In March 2011, the Ontario government and the City of Toronto had reached a deal on a revised transit plan where Ontario will be contributing $8.4 billion. Under the new plan, Metrolinx, a regional transportation agency of the Ontario Government, will be in charge of delivering the Eglinton-Scarborough Crosstown Project which includes building a single Light Rail Transit (LRT) running about 25 kilometres from Black Creek Drive to Scarborough Centre; up to 26 new stations; maintenance and storage facilities; rail and signal systems; and purchasing Light Rail vehicles.
